Some readers might have a completely different experience with this one—and I totally respect that—but for me, The Throne of Broken Gods was a letdown. It didn’t live up to the first book, and honestly, I struggled to stay invested. At over 600 pages, you’d expect an intense, action-packed sequel, but instead, it felt unnecessarily long, filled with scenes that didn’t add much to the overall story. It was like the plot was dragging its feet, stretching out moments that could have been condensed, making it hard to stay engaged. And then, as if realizing it needed to keep readers hooked, the book finally delivers a plot twist—in the last 170 pages. By then, it felt too little, too late. I still appreciate the world-building that made The Book of Azrael stand out, but this time, it got lost in the sheer amount of filler. Dianna and Liam’s dynamic, which I loved in the first book, didn’t feel as compelling, and the overall magic of the story just wasn’t there.
